What We Do

The RCSK Social Assistance Department is aimed at supporting vulnerable groups of people through meeting priority needs, such as food and shelter, as well as professional, social and psychological assistance to people in difficult life situations throughout the country


Social integration of children in crisis situation on the base of RCSK Children crisis center in Kara-Balta city

About 25 children aged  from  2 to 18 live in the Center on a permanent basis.  Most of them are orphans, social orphans, children from families of migrants, as well as children with disabilities. The Center provides children with food, clothing, school supplies, medical equipment, and also deals with the issues of social integration of children and their rehabilitation. Employees of the Center and volunteers of the Red Crescent work with children, helping them to overcome  the stressful situation. Children of older age get the opportunity to acquire professional skills, as well as support for admission to educational institutions.

   Monthly expenses, without the Center will not be able to continue its work: 150 000 soms.

    The main needs of the Center are:

- long-term food products

- seasonal clothes

-stationery

-bed linen

-educational games and children’s toys

Social integration of street children on the base of the RCSK Alignment school in Karakol city

The RCSK’s Alignment School  is aimed at social integration and rehabilitation of street children and children from families of migrants in  Karakol city. The school has about 30 children. On the basis of the school, children also receive humanitarian assistance.

 Monthly expenses, without the Alignment school will not be able to continue its work: 39 000 soms.

 

    The main needs  are:

Taking care of the lonely elderly people on the base of the RCSK Elderly house “Salamat” in Kara-Balta city

The RCSK’s Elderly house takes care of lonely elderly people who have been left without care of their relatives and who need 24-hour care. For today there are about 60 people living in the Elderly house , including people with disabilities and elderly people suffering from dementia.

 Monthly expenses, without the Elderly house will not be able to continue its work: 220 000 soms.

The main needs are:

- personal hygiene items (diapers for adults, disposable diapers, soap detergents);

-food products

-bed linen

Palliative care for patients in terminal stages of diseases on the base of the RCSK Nursing department with services of a hospice in Kara-Balta city

In Kara-Balta city there is a nursing department named after Henry Dunant, where hospice services are also provided. The patients of the department are people who need 24/7  surveillance and medical services, who are in the terminal stages of oncological and neurological diseases.

Monthly expenses, without the Hospice  will not be able to continue its work: 190 000 soms.

The main needs are:

-personal hygiene items (diapers for adults, disposable diapers, soap detergents without flavors);

-bed linen

Strengthening the role, social and economic conditions of vulnerable women in Kyrgyzstan  

Support for women from vulnerable and low-income families, families of migrants, large families, and women in difficult life situations is provided through the Centers in the cities of Bishkek, Osh, Batken, Naryn and Tokmok. On the basis of the Centers, women acquire professional skills through training in sewing, which allows them to get a job and save money on buying clothes for their own families. Along with professional skills, visitor's centers acquire useful skills such as first aid, as well as receive advice on various social and legal issues.

 The partner of this activity is Italian Red Cross.

  The main needs are:

- employment opportunities;

- food for the most vulnerable families among the women enrolled in the courses;

- fabrics and accessories;

- sewing machines for working at home.

Rehabilitation of children with disabilities on the base of “Tenir Koldo” rehabilitation center in Talas city

Rehabilitation Center for Children with Disabilities "Tenir Koldo" is located in Talas city, and is the only institution in the region, providing assistance to families raising children with Down syndrome and autism. Currently, the Center "Tenir Koldo" is carrying out repairs related to the expansion of activities and relocation to its own territory.

The Swiss Red Cross is the partner for the construction of the new building for the Center.

Providing home-helping and social assistance for lonely elderly people in Bishkek, Kara-Balta and Tokmok cities

Support for single elderly people left without care of their relatives is one of the priorities of the RCSK. More than 400 elderly people of senior retirement age living in cities with the highest vulnerability index of elderly people (Bishkek, Kara-Balta and Tokmok) are the beneficiaries of the RCSK. Thanks to the work of volunteers, the elderly are provided with hot meals, food, social and psychological assistance, as well as help with the housework.

  This activity is carried out in partnership with the Swiss Red Cross.

 The RCSK  is a member of the AgeNetInternational Gerontological Network.

In the cities of Bishkek, Kara-Balta, Tokmok and Karakol there are Clubs of older people where everyone can spend leisure time, initiate ideas, play sports and creativity.

The main needs are:

-food products

-seasonal clothing

-equipment for creativity and drawing;

- funds to support initiatives grandmothers and grandfathers.

Reintegration of homeless persons on the base of a Homeless shelter in Karakol city

Throughout the period from November to March in Karakol city, there is a shelter for homeless people, on the basis of which people without a fixed place of residence receive accommodation, food, medical services, as well as assistance in social adaptation.

Monthly expenses, without the Shelter  will not be able to continue its work: 31 000 soms
